Welcome!
Within the state of Florida, there are 18 species of bats. Disturbance or destruction of roost sites due to development and vandalism is the number one threat for these creatures. Most of bats living in Florida prefer to roost in mature or dead trees or in caves. However, many are forced to roost in homes or other buildings due to loss of these habitats. Bats are disappearing rapidly, not only due to habitat loss, but because humans fear them out of misconceptions. This site is dedicated to help people understand these little mammals and explain why they are truly an asset to our community.
